There’s more to cutting your wedding cake than sharing that first sweet bite as newlyweds and having the opportunity to smash cake into each others faces, ruining your freshly reapplied lipstick for the cake cutting photos. Did you know that cutting the cake actually provides guest whom are aware of traditional wedding etiquette that you are okay with them ducking out of the party after this point and time without it being considered rude. In the past, it was the last thing to happen at a wedding reception rather than a very large intoxicated crowd of guest still partying it up on the dance floor having the time of their lives.
Today, the cake is usually cut earlier in the reception in order to assist in accommodating your photographers time constraints, however the cutting of the cake is still a signal that many older guests will take as being able to leave.
