HIGH BALLERINA BUNS
While many brides are still loving the loose, romantic look, we’re also seeing more and more brides wearing their hair in more structured ballerina-inspired up-dos. We love how this style keeps the hair out of the face all night long!
Doughnut towers have over taken the traditional wedding cake, of course, I love just about any sweet treat, but it’s looking like doughnuts will be the dessert of the moment in 2016.
RETRO-INSPIRED GROOM’S LOOKS
This year, we saw the rise of the cobalt blue tuxedo. We think that in 2016, grooms will think outside the box even more by wearing attire in shades like Marsala and Burgundy.
COPPER AND METALLIC’S
I am still seeing so many weddings with gold or copper palettes that truly makes me think metallic colours will definitely be around going strong into the year. Expect to see some of Pantone’s Colors of the Year—Rose Quartz and Serenity mixed in, but I still think copper is number one, right up there with the hottest new metallic Rose Gold
FOIL STAMPED INVITATIONS AND STATIONARY
This metallic look stems from the gold/copper trend. It’s an elegant, festive and fun style for stationary. Plus it’s a great way to tie in a metallic colour scheme.
FLOWERS AND GREENERY HANGING FROM CEILINGS AND COVERING WALLS
Floral creations aren’t just for reception tables anymore! I’ve seen floral arrangements in unique places—including hanging from venue ceilings and vines climbing up the walls to create a stunning natural photo backdrop
Tacos and tequila, hot dogs and beer—providing sips and bites sized appies together creates a unique experience during cocktail hour.
WEDDING GOWNS WITH REMOVABLE SKIRTS
This look allows the bride to basically have two dresses in one, the long and full skirt that is formal enough even for a church ceremony and allows the Bride to remove the skirt revealing a fun, more form-fitting silhouette underneath for the ceremony.
BRIDESMAIDS IN SEPARATES
I’m seeing a lot of bridal parties opting for tops and skirts rather than the traditional bridesmaids dresses. It’s a modern look that allows for even more creativity and versatility, allowing maids to show their own style flair.
THE WORD “LOVE”
Sure, it’s pretty literal—but couples love to creatively feature their word “love” at their weddings. From signage to marquee lights and more, I “Love” it!
DRONE PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY
Couples are constantly looking for new and unique ways to keep the memory of their special day, now, more and more photographers and videographers are using drones to capture aerial footage of weddings. Look for this to grow even more as the trend catches on.
When it comes to lighting in 2016, it’s all about being bold and making a statement! Whether mix and match chandeliers or different styles of lighting or you even fill your venue with a hundreds of candles of all shapes and sizes, making lighting a priority in the 2016 is sure to make an impact.
MIX + MATCH STYLE
Long since gone are the days when a couples needs to choose just one theme for their wedding day. Modern-Rustic approach, go ahead, it’s your day! This year, we’re going to see many designs mixing and matching different styles to create weddings that are unexpected, bold and completely gorgeous. Have fun with your wedding planning ideas, not everything has to match!
Whether it be floral, Kate Spade inspired dots, damask or chevron, patterns are in full force, I’m noticing a shift toward patterns in linens, plates, invitation suites – color has been coming back but pattern is taking it to the next level.
BOUDOIR SESSIONS ON WEDDING DAY
Brides will be choosing to do mini-boudoir sessions while getting for her big day, rather than a separate session that could cost even more than doing it all at once. Plus it’s a sweet reminder of the lingerie you had on, on the day of your wedding!
LOOSE, ORGANIC FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS
The loose floral trend started in 2015, many brides opting for a more bohemian styled wedding bouquet, but I think it’s only going to get bigger in 2016. Brides want their weddings to be elegant but not quite so stuffy, and a less structured floral design perfectly reflects that.
The traditional prelude prior to a ceremony has given way to the new ‘pre-ceremony’ cocktail. Couples want to welcome their guests and kick off the festivities right away rather than having them all just standing around before the guests are able to take their seats for the ceremony/.
A lot more couples are leaning towards promoting organics at their wedding and using only all natural ingredients in their food. This trend has become more popular as the vegan and organic lifestyle has become more main stream. I expect to see more and more of this concept being used in weddings to come over the next few years. We’re also going to see a movement towards organic elements outside of florals—think feathers, and lots of greenery.
COLOUR PALETTES ACCENTED WITH A RICH. BOLD COLOUR
While weddings will always have a special spot for oh so soft and romantic blush tone, brides are now incorporating rich colors and jewel tones into their celebrations. From deep reds and maroons to dark greens and blues, these colours pump up the vibrance of the event space.
SO LONG, STRAPLESS
Saying Goodbye to the strapless dress and Hello to the intricately designed covered shoulders and lace sleeves, even now, inspired by Kate Middleton’s Wedding gown. Time and time again brides are opting to cover their shoulders and designers are creating gorgeous wedding gowns that do just that!
VINTAGE-INSPIRED ENGAGEMENT RINGS
I don’t think vintage will ever really get old, no pun intended. When it comes to sparkle, brides are looking to decades past. Whether it’s saying ‘I Do’ to an heirloom ring, or a new ring inspired by a vintage design, it’s a trend that’s certain to stay strong in 2016.
I’ve always loved beautiful hand-written calligraphy, and I’m seeing it everywhere! Not just on invites and stationary, but on, laser cut cake topper’s to leaf place cards, we’re going to see calligraphy anywhere and everywhere!
ELABORATE FLORAL DESIGN
The past few year we have been in a time of scarce floral, now I’m seeing inventive ways to bring back much more elaborate floral arrangements.
More and more couples are deciding against departure at the end of the reception and instead continuing the party at an after-party in their hotel or another location near their hotel.
INTIMATE WEDDINGS + ELOPEMENTS
While everyone loves a grand, elaborate wedding, it’s the smaller, intimate celebrations that really pull at your heartstrings. Intimate weddings allow you the opportunity to mingle and spend time with all of those closest to you. Not to mention much easier on the wallet as more couples are deciding to be more budget conscious when planning their wedding. This year we’re envisioning a rise in smaller sized ceremonies. This is perfect for the private couple who wants their special day to be significant by sharing it with those who truly love and know you as a couple, this is the ultimate trend for you.
